Amir Jones, the current Essex County Undersheriff and son of Democratic State Chairman LeRoy Jones, Jr., proudly carries the endorsement from members of the Essex County Democratic Committee, Inc. as their chosen candidate for sheriff in the June primary. With a robust fifteen-year tenure managing the Field Operations Division at the sheriff's office, Jones is poised to bring a wealth of experience and dedication to the role.

If elected, Jones will make history as Essex County’s first Black sheriff, symbolizing a significant milestone in a family legacy deeply rooted in public service. His late grandfather, LeRoy Jones, Sr., also left his mark as a New Jersey Parole Board member.
